Atalanta's Protector

“Atalanta’s Protector” is a piece inspired by the Greek myth of Atalanta and the She-Bear. In the story, after Atalanta was abandoned by her father, a she-bear nursed and cared for her until hunters found her and took her in. She learned to hunt and fight like a bear, becoming a skilled and legendary huntress.

I wanted to capture the bond between Atalanta and the she-bear. Although the bear’s protection was brief, it shaped everything that followed. In this piece, I imagined that connection continuing beyond her childhood. The she-bear is not a spirit or a memory here; she is still alive and beside Atalanta as she hunts, protecting her from anything that may come her way.
